WitnessLA.org: Jesus Rocks Oprah »

lawitness:

God is moving in Hollywood, even in the most unlikely of places.

At a recent charity event hosted by Oprah, the presence of the Lord suddenly fell upon Gospel singers from both old and new generations, as spontaneous songs of worship broke out, and the power of the Holy Spirit brought…

Hmm…I wonder if this really was the “presence of the Lord” or if it was just a mighty good time for Hollywood singers to revel in their high society culture of just really talented elites? Can the presence of the Lord actually come without bringing conviction of sin, repentance, and THEN revival, rejoicing and praise? How come it seems as if the Holy Spirit decided to skip the first two steps at this event and just wanted to make everybody cry and feel “the blessings of the Lord?” I mean, great, they sang a lot of high energy, heartfelt and nostalgic gospel songs… celebrities cried… people threw the word “spiritual” and “transcendent” around, but at the end of the day, what Alicia said sums it all up: it just reminded and encouraged her to keep doing what they’re doing… is that really change? Is that really the presence of God? Or is it just a self-satisfying answer to itchy ears, sponsored by Oprahism?

Something to think about.
